Student Test Day on MRI VR Environment at Lapland University of Applied Sciences

March 18, 2026

On March 18, a Student Test Day was held at the premises of Lapland University of Applied Sciences (LUAS) as part of the DTRIP4H project, specifically contributing to Use Case 1: Medical Imaging Environment-Based Digital Twins. This use case focuses on the development of a digital twin aimed at training and educating professionals, as well as informing patients about potential risks associated with exposure to electromagnetic fields during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

A total of 14 students participated in the session, working in pairs over the course of the day. Following an initial introduction to the virtual reality (VR) equipment, participants independently completed a tutorial designed to familiarize them with the environment and controls. Subsequently, each pair engaged in the first scenario of the MRI VR environment, allowing for collaborative interaction and exploration.

Upon completion of the session, participants were asked to provide feedback through a short questionnaire and follow-up interviews. These activities aimed to gather insights into user experience, usability, and the educational value of the developed solution.

The event provided valuable input for further development and refinement of the MRI VR environment, highlighting the importance of user-centered evaluation in advancing digital twin technologies for medical training and patient education.
