Student Test Day on MRI VR Environment at Oulu University of Applied Sciences

April 15, 2026

On April 15th, a student test day was held at Oulu University of Applied Sciences, where participants engaged in hands-on testing of virtual reality (VR) use cases. The session focused on exploring how immersive technologies can be effectively applied in real-world healthcare and educational contexts.

During the workshop, students interacted with VR scenarios designed to simulate practical environments, providing valuable insights into usability, functionality, and user experience. These testing activities play an important role in validating technological solutions and ensuring their relevance for end users.

The workshop was conducted as part of DTRIP4H Use Case 1 – Medical Imaging Environment-Based Digital Twins. This use case aims to develop a digital twin to support the training and education of healthcare professionals, while also enhancing patient awareness. In particular, the solution addresses the communication of potential risks related to exposure to electromagnetic fields during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures.

The collaborative effort brings together expertise from the University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, and the FrostBit Software Lab at Lapland University of Applied Sciences. By combining technological development with user-centered testing, the initiative contributes to advancing innovative and responsible digital solutions in healthcare.
