DTRIP4H Use Case 1 partners from the University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences and Lapland University of Applied Sciences presented their work at the XIX National Conference on Nursing Science (HTTS 2026), held on 9–10 June 2026 in Turku, Finland.

The conference took place in the Natura building at the University of Turku. Its 2026 theme, “Vaikuttavaa välittämistä” (“Impactful Caring”), brought together research and new perspectives from nursing science and the wider health sector, including healthcare education, leadership, policy and the development of sustainable care and health systems.

At the conference, the DTRIP4H Use Case 1 team presented a poster entitled:
“𝘌𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 (𝘟𝘙) 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴' 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.”

The poster was authored by Marja Jaronen, Adam Graham, Karoliina Paalimäki-Paakki, Tanja Schroderus-Salo, Niko Männikkö, Tuulikki Keskitalo and Kristina Mikkonen.

The work focuses on the use of extended reality (XR) training in radiography environments, examining healthcare professionals’ confidence and their experiences of using XR-based training. The DTRIP4H contribution to the conference also included an oral presentation by Professor Kristina Mikkonen.

Presenting the work in Turku provided an opportunity for the DTRIP4H partners to share their ongoing research with the nursing science and healthcare education community and to exchange perspectives on the potential of immersive technologies for healthcare training.

The conference programme included oral presentations, symposium sessions, posters and ePosters, providing a multidisciplinary forum for sharing current nursing and healthcare research and emerging innovations.

The XIX National Conference on Nursing Science was organised by the University of Turku Department of Nursing Science in cooperation with Hoitotieteiden tutkimusseura (HTTS r.y.).
