A Major Boost for DTRIP4H: Brno Joins the European Network of Living Labs

Strengthening Use Case 3: Assessment of Inhalation Exposure in an Urban Area

Brno Living Lab (BLL), initiated by our partner RECETOX at Masaryk University in Czechia, has officially joined the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL). This marks an important milestone not only for the city of Brno but also for the DTRIP4H project.

As a DTRIP4H pilot city, Brno plays a central role in Use Case 3: Assessment of Inhalation Exposure in an Urban Area. The city serves as a real-world environment where advanced digital tools and data-driven methods are applied to better understand and assess urban air pollution exposure and its impact on public health.

Membership in ENoLL significantly strengthens Brno’s capacity to advance this work. Through the network, Brno Living Lab gains enhanced opportunities for international collaboration and knowledge exchange, access to established Living Lab methodologies and training frameworks, and stronger engagement with public authorities, academia, industry, and citizens. This integrated approach is essential for addressing complex urban health challenges.

Living Labs operate under the quadruple helix model, which brings together academia, government, industry, and the community in co-creation processes. This model aligns closely with DTRIP4H’s mission to develop digital twins and innovative, data-driven solutions that are firmly rooted in real societal needs and that support healthier urban environments.

By joining a global network of more than 200 Living Labs, Brno strengthens its position as an innovation-driven city and enhances the impact and visibility of DTRIP4H at the European level. For Use Case 3 in particular, this step will contribute to deeper stakeholder involvement, improved methodological approaches, and broader knowledge exchange across Europe.

We congratulate RECETOX, the Brno Living Lab team, and its leader Ondřej Mikeš on this important achievement.
