DTRIP4H Use Case 1: First VR Testing Meeting in Finland

The UC1 team took an exciting step forward by conducting first testing of VR-based radiography education.

DTRIP4H Use Case 1 group focuses on developing 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. On 12 January 2026, in the Frostbit Rovaniemi Lab, the UC1 team explored how immersive VR can support learning in radiography education - particularly in complex and safety-critical clinical situations.

🔹 Next steps
• Developing new NPCs (non-player characters) to make learning cases more interactive and authentic
• Strengthening scenarios that explicitly support patient safety and clinical decision-making
• Designing interprofessional training for both staff and students

The upcoming training will be conducted with interprofessional groups, bringing together staff and students to support collaboration, communication, and shared understanding through immersive learning environments.

A big thank you to everyone involved—our team Milla Immonen, Tanja Schroderus-Salo, Karoliina Paalimäki-Paakki, Niko Männikkö, Tuulikki Keskitalo, Miika Puljujärvi, Henna Huotarinen, Sofie Väisänen, Pertti Rauhala, Marja Jaronen, Adam Graham, Kristina Mikkonen, this is an important step in building safer, smarter, and more human-centered VR education.
