DTRIP4H Use Case 1 Tests Multiplayer MRI Safety Training in Rovaniemi

Workshop in Finland brought the DTRIP4H team together for some hands-on testing of our MRI digital twin.

The recent DTRIP4H Use Case 1 workshop in Rovaniemi, Finland brought project partners together for hands-on testing of the MRI digital twin and its latest training scenarios.

The workshop focused on two key elements: the multiplayer VR mode and the first patient digital twin scenario. In the virtual MRI environment, participants entered the scanner room together, worked through safety procedures, identified potential risks, and had to communicate and coordinate as a team.

The testing highlighted that MRI safety is about more than remembering rules. It also depends on situational awareness, communication, teamwork, and recognising risks before they become incidents.

The patient scenario added another important dimension. Factors such as fear and anxiety can influence an MRI examination but are not always easy for healthcare professionals to recognise. The patient digital twin helps bring these human factors into the training experience and complements the technical side of MRI safety.

By combining these perspectives, DTRIP4H is exploring how VR, digital twins and intelligent technologies can create safe spaces where healthcare professionals and students can practise complex situations together before facing them in real clinical settings.

The workshop involved partners from University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk), Lapland University of Applied Sciences, FrostBit Software Lab, HealthEduCom Lab, and Near Real Oy.
